The Big Gay Update
From it's debut as a one woman show at the San Francisco Queer Solo Fest in 2019 and Rochester, Providence, and Indy Fringe Festivals, Kinetic Dust is envisioning Big Gay Debutante Ball as a dance-rock musical, featuring a full array of debutantes and their stories and culminating in an immersive and participatory coming out ball.
Alongside the development of this musical, I would offer a series of movement and voice workshops to help community members unearth personal coming-out stories in safe and brave ways – finding cathartic healing and cultivating deeper connection and camaraderie within our queer family.
The longevity model of this project is inspired by Eve Ensler’s Vagina Monologues, and hopes to achieve a comparably wide reaching impact and robust change.
